So. On another forum there’s a guy who I generally disagree with and generally dislike how he puts an argument across. In the past I’ve considered him to be arrogant and condescending. I’ve said as much. In a recent debate he and I had a similar point of view. That in itself was a surprise. But more surprising was that I was ok with the way he was posting whilst other people who are normally on “the same side” as this guy took exception to his postings. I didn’t think I was like that on the basis I often disagree with how people debate who are on the same side as me and like how people debate who take an opposing view. Due to the above I can now fully understand why mods who think they’re being completely fair really aren’t. I’m also going to try my hardest to ensure I don’t start doing it either. Luckily I have very little to moderate here 😏

I think the real problem comes when you really think an individual is wrong and everyone else agrees with you. But a good Mod will always be able to disagee with what you say but defend your right to say it.

My interaction with another person I’ve interacted with I thought proved that. I completely disagree with this chap on a BA issue but (mostly) he debates in a reasonable way. But my switch on the first guy really threw me.
