Your point, that there aren’t places for all the groups to discuss together, is well-made.
I fear the reason is that the tendency of fora is to drift towards conflict, so any disagreement between, say boaters and anglers, is always going to end in a factional war, and one group usually leaving. I’ve seen more hissy fits on Broads fora than I can remember.
The secondary reason is that boaters, as a group, and I am one, seem to think they own the river. They do pay tolls so they mostly seem to think that gives them extra rights when in fact they just have the same as anyone else.
That means they feel they can judge how the river is used. The recent announcement of a swimming event was a perfect example of this, although, inevitably, it was “safety” that was the reason given for objection.

The reaction to the swimming event on a certain boating forum was the reason I set this one up. I hope we can get a good mix of people but it’s a slow start. I’m not allowed to mention this forum on NBN so I’m not sure how we get the word out. If this forum gets dominated by one group who just shout the others down I’ll give it up as another tried and failed.

I would like to see a forum not dominated by those who loathe the BA, loathe John Packman, and go on and on about it, whatever the subject, however irrelevant, to the point of nausea.
