I am not one of the BA knockers but I suspect that improving the condition of the staithe is down to them, not the local residents. Any shortcomings with that staithe should be brought to their attention. There is good reason for this, if an accident were to occur and the repairs were found to be responsible, even in part, who would be liable?

I think it might be the parish council but I’m really not sure. I just take the view that I’d like it to be better so I’ll try and make it better. Everybody has budgets and I have no desire to get into the debate of where they’re spent. I’ve sent a query to the people running the scheme. If they say not a chance that’s the end of it. If they say maybe I’ll talk to the parish council. I’m being selfish, I want to have access to a better staithe and I like the idea of being involved in the work. Maybe someone else should do it but why should they have all the fun? 😏

I should also mention that over the years I’m told it’s been locals hat have maintained it. I don’t know if that’s true but it’s what several people have told me.

I got a reply from www.watermillsandmarshes.org.uk but apparently Repps Staithe is outside their boundary. They very helpfully suggested contacting www.lovethebroads.org.uk who may we’ll be prepared to fund improving the staithe. It seems as though their 2018 funding is closed so I’ll look again early next year.
