I’ve seen a lot of chat about throwing bags recently. Are they better than a life belt? Why? Or are they a compromise as they’re easier to carry and take less space?

A throwing line is my preferred option, it’s more accurate and easier to throw further, especially if there,s a stiff breeze. To m as essentio as an auto inflation life reserves, especially if you venture out on the salty stuff but like all safety devices buy a good on and check it out bu practicing with it and learning how to maintain and repack it, after all if needed you have to know how to use it and it has to work. Alternatively you could have both lifebelts and lines aboard, what price safety if things go wrong.

A throwing line is my preferred option, Do you mean a weighted line or a line in a bag?

Either will do The same job John, a bag is easier to store and throw though and if packed roperly less likely to tangle up and drop short.
